On the recommendation of Laurel Robbins of Monkeys and Mountains, my husband and I indulged in tasty potato dishes at Schwabinger Kartoffelhaus in Munich (Muenchen), Germany — a restaurant that gives the magnificent potato center stage. With the pleasant company of Laurel and her husband, we chose from a menu where every item featured potatoes.
Our Savory Selections
Laurel's husband and I chose the French casserole which had turkey, fresh vegetables, mushrooms, fried potatoes and sour cream. It was a delicious hearty dish and quite abundant, so I couldn't finish it all.
Laurel chose shrimp skewers, fried potatoes and a salad and gave her choice a big thumbs up!
Another thumbs up from my husband for his vegetarian potato pie with vegetables and feta cheese accompanied by sweet and sour chili dip and a salad.
The restaurant was cozy with traditional German charm and pretty Christmas decorations.
There were a few amusing surprises such as the pictures indicating the men's and ladies' rooms.
Looking up you see this upside down table setting on the ceiling of the restaurant.
